IDAHO MUSEUMS and HISTORIC SITES

Idaho has history that you wouldn't believe. Pack a Lunch and Explore Idaho History! In Boise, tour the Old Idaho Penitentiary, see one of the oldest Bureau of Reclamation Buildings - the Boise Project Office, or stop by the old Assay Office and enjoy the surrounding park.
Visit one of Idaho's earliest settlements, Franklin, where many of the town's original historic buildings stand to this day! Tour the museum in the Relic Hall and interpretive center in the Hatch House. Or visit the Pierce Courthouse, built in 1862 before Idaho was a territory.

There are hundreds of historical sites... one room school houses, railroads, old mines, etc. that don't qualify as museums but are of interest to many people. And stop by Hansen to tour the Stricker Homesite, the interpretive center, and the remains of the historic Rock Creek Station, a once-thriving stage stop along the Oregon Trail. Use this search to locate them. If an historical site in ID has a website it's here!
