Minidoka's county seat and largest city is Rupert. Irrigated farmland covers the southern part of the county, while lava beds cover the northern portion. The elevation is generally in the range of 4,200 feet to 4,500 feet. The Snake River forms the county's southern boundary. The area, known as the Mini-Cassia Area, is full of places for sightseeing with everything from natural wonders to historical monuments. The Snake River was very influential in the development of the area and the scenery and landmarks along its water tells its story.

The Mini-Cassia area also offers a variety of cultural activities, including several historical museums in both Minidoka and Cassia Counties, the Herrett Center for the Arts and Sciences and the King Fine Art Center. Theaters and opera houses feature plays and musical performances to enrich the mind. Mini-Cassia is home to 12 cities and towns plus 7 state and national parks, forests, and reserves. The area boasts the ski resort with the longest season and most snowfall as well as the best water skiing area on the Snake River. There is never a dull moment with the multitude of events from festivals and fairs to tournaments and triathlons.
